About the 2020 Acura RDX
The third-generation RDX (2019-20) is the first in a new generation of Acura models built on the resurgent luxury brand’s original and authentic Precision Crafted Performance brand values.  In setting their targets for the design and performance, the U.S. design and engineering team drew inspiration from both the Acura Precision Concept and Acura Precision Cockpit as well as the pinnacle representation of Acura performance, the NSX supercar. The RDX is the first all-new design drawing from the Concept styling and the advanced Cockpit technology. The RDX team’s ultimate goal was straightforward: to make the best RDX ever, a vehicle that sets the foundation for an entire new generation of Acura vehicles in terms of styling, performance, premium quality and technology.

Featuring a new Platinum White exterior color for 2020, RDX carries forward the next generation of Acura design, performance and technology that debuted on the all-new 2019 model, including the popular A-Spec sport appearance package. RDX delivers an exceptional driving experience thanks in part to its 272-horsepower (SAE net) turbocharged i-VTEC® engine and available Acura Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), along with a class-leading array of standard premium features and technologies, including AcuraWatch™ safety and driver-assistive technology, an ultra-wide panoramic moonroof, next-generation Acura JewelEye™ LED headlights, and next-generation Acura sport seats. 2020 Acura TLX Arrives at Dealers With Four New Premium Colors

The 2020 Acura TLX is set to begin arriving in Acura dealerships on April 2, bringing with it four new premium exterior color options. The 2020 TLX will continue to be offered with two performance-minded powertrains, an available A-Spec sport appearance package, as well as a long list of premium features including the AcuraWatch® suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, standard on every TLX. Expanded Premium Color Palette
For 2020, the TLX enjoys an expanded exterior color palette with four new premium paints offered for the first time on TLX. The new premium color options are: Performance Red Pearl, Majestic Black Pearl, Canyon Bronze Metallic and an A-Spec exclusive Apex Blue Pearl. These advanced paints are engineered using cutting edge pigment technologies such as micas, metal flakes and nano pigments (super-high transparency), now offered on all Acura models to deliver Precision Crafted Performance in every aspect of the vehicle. Each premium paint color receives additional coats to enhance the color intensity and depth along with a special clear coat to further improve luster.

Effortless Performance
The 2020 TLX is available in one of two performance oriented powertrains: a 206-horsepower 2.4-liter i-VTEC®  mated to quick-shifting 8-speed dual clutch transmission, and a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter i-VTEC® V6 paired with a 9-speed automatic.

2019 Acura RDX: America’s Best-Selling Compact Luxury SUV Earns Highest Possible 2019 Safety Award from IIHS

  • Highest Possible IIHS safety ratings among all compact luxury SUVs
  • RDX achieves retail best-selling title following six-consecutive record months
  • RDX on pace to surpass 60,000 units, setting a new all-time record

The 2019 Acura RDX has earned the highest possible award and safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2019 RDX qualified for TOP SAFETY PICK+ thanks to a top rating of “GOOD” in all crashworthiness tests, standard AcuraWatch™ active safety technology that earns a superior rating, and available good-rated headlights. Since its launch in June, the all-new RDX has recorded six-consecutive monthly sales records to take the lead as America’s #1 retail-selling compact luxury SUV for 20181. Total sales for the year are on pace to surpass 60,000 units, marking a new all-time record for RDX.

According to the IIHS, “The 2019 Acura RDX excelled in our six crashworthiness evaluations, including the roof strength test. Our testing apparatus applied over 21,000 lbs of force to the RDX’s roof before it crushed 5 inches. That’s more than 5 times the weight of the vehicle.”

“The 2019 Acura RDX offers the highest level of standard safety and driver-assistance features in its class, so earning class-leading safety ratings is a strong proof point of the technology and design innovation we’re bringing to the game,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president & general manager.

Developed by the company’s U.S. R&D team, the 2019 RDX has the newest generation of Acura’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, new high-strength steel door stiffener rings, and for the first time, eight airbags, including new driver and front-passenger knee airbags. Furthermore, RDX features the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assisitive technologies as standard equipment, including Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and Road Departure Mitigation. RDX also features Acura JewelEye™ LED headlights to help achieve its best-in-class ratings.

To earn the 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also needs available front crash prevention that earns an advanced or superior rating and available good-rated headlights. The RDX’s standard Jewel Eye™ LED headlights are rated good, while the curve-adaptive LED headlights equipped with the Advance Package are rated acceptable.

Acura RDX Sets New Annual Sales Record

  • RDX eclipses previous annual sales record of 52,361 units, set in 2016, with more than six selling weeks left in the year
  • RDX is the retail best-selling model in the premium midsize CUV category, luxury’s largest segment
  • RDX is the only model in segment with 50,000+ sales in each of the last four years

The Acura RDX continues its quest to conquer luxury’s largest segment, topping its previous annual sales record with more than six weeks remaining in 2018. Since the launch of the fully redesigned 2019 model in June, RDX has posted five consecutive monthly sales records, with year-to-date sales in excess of 52,361 units, the previous record it set in 2016.

“As the first in a new generation, the 2019 RDX significantly ups the ante in terms of performance, design, materials and technology,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of Acura. “The positive response from our customers is a powerful statement about the future direction of the Acura brand.”

RDX has quickly become the retail best-selling model in the premium midsize CUV category, luxury’s largest segment, and the number three top retail selling vehicle in all of luxury1. Further, RDX has helped Acura to a 7.3% gain in luxury SUV sales for the year, including a new all-time record for Acura SUVs in October. On a cumulative basis, all-time RDX sales now exceed 415,000 units, and RDX is the only model in its segment to top 50,000 units in sales every year since 2015. Moreover, the RDX is the class leader in sales to under-35 year-old luxury customers cumulatively since 2013.

Sales Momentum Across the Brand
Year-to-date, Acura is one of only two top-five luxury brands in positive retail sales territory. The recently redesigned Acura ILX sports sedan continues to gain market share, capturing the highest number of millennial buyers in segment, while the midsize TLX is outpacing key competitors from BMW, Lexus, Infiniti and Volvo in retail sales for the year. The Acura MDX, a perennial top choice in the premium upper midsize CUV segment, also holds the title of America’s best-selling three-row luxury SUV of all time.
